Eco-friendly, British-sourced styled shoot with Emma Jane Designs 2000 1334 Sally

A beautiful, eco-friendly, British-sourced styled shoot in collaboration with Upon The Heath Photography and Emma Jane Designs.

As an environmentally conscious wedding venue based in the beautiful North Wales countryside, we jumped at the chance to be part of this eco-friendly styled shoot showcasing the value of British-sourced, sustainable, wedding suppliers.

Spoiler Alert: the results blew us away!

The bride rests her head on the groom's shoulder at their eco-friendly, styled shoot, both are smiling. On the bride's lap rests her bouquet made up of British-sourced flowers in hues of pink, lilac, white and green foliage. The groom wears a matching buttonhole. In the background of their image floral displays and their wedding cake can be seen.

Brief: A British Sourced, Sustainable Wedding

As a countryside barn wedding venue privileged to be based in North Wales, in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we have a strong environmental conscience. So of course our ears pricked up when Upon The Heath Photography and Emma Jane Designs contacted us to collaborate on a styled shoot focused around British-sourced, eco-friendly weddings. It was an opportunity too good to be missed!

Naturally, we jumped at the chance to be involved in a project that showcases that it’s absolutely possible to have a beautiful wedding, oozing style without compromising the Earth. And in fact with many suppliers, like Emma Jane Designs prioritising sustainability by using ethically sourced, British-grown wedding flowers in their floral arrangements, not only is it possible,  it’s easier than ever!

An Incredible Array Of British, Eco-Friendly Wedding Suppliers

When we awoke on the day of the shoot to a dreary, grey, overcast sky we felt cheated – it was August after all (can’t rely on that Great British Weather, eh!). Hopes of a vibrant, summery, floral shoot began to fade. However, upon receiving the gallery from Upon The Heath Photography we were blown away! Emma Jane Designs did an incredible job of bringing that summer feeling inside.

A floral display set upon a long rectangular table in the Tower Hill Barns dining hall. The flowers are British-sourced and eco-friendly, in hues of lilac, pink and white with green foliage and sit in dainty wooden troughs. In the middle of the two floral displays sits a four-tier wedding cake in off-white and gold hues.

Models were adorned with beautiful bouquets accented with blooms in lilac and blush hues, tied together with plenty of eucalyptus for that bohemian edge. While beautiful, whimsical wildflower floral arrangements, inspired by the beauty of our British wildflower meadow transformed the table tops of our rustic countryside wedding barn. As well as the simple, elegant wedding cake ℅ Red Rose Cakes.

We’re sure you’ll agree the results were phenomenal. But what we love most about this shoot is that everything used, from the florals to the bridal gowns was British-sourced and eco-friendly in one way or another.

All of the blooms used were in season and locally sourced. (And you only need to read our ‘ 5 Ways To Make Your Wedding More Eco-Friendly’ blog to know why we are here for that!).

A flat lay image of beautiful wedding invitations. The invitations are printed on off-white textured paper with floral accents, while the envelopes are a forest green colour with a gold seal. The invitations are British-sourced and eco-friendly.

This wedding stationery ℅ Perch and Plume Designs based in Northern Ireland perfectly captured both the colour scheme and the vibe of our styled shoot. The blush pink and gold menus tied in beautifully with the table decor for that perfect finishing touch. And the unique floral invitations deserve a mention of their own, featuring handmade textured paper and a pressed flower design. They are simply a work of art and look gorgeous accented by the flower button holes – definitely worthy of your memory box!

In keeping with the eco-friendly wedding theme, the beautiful ‘brides’ wore stunning pre-loved dresses from Bridal Reloved Bridal Boutique in Shrewsbury. We think they looked phenomenal. A perfect example of how choosing a pre-loved wedding dress is not only cost-effective and environmentally friendly but a surefire way to look amazing too. Bridal Reloved has a little bit of everything but for this shoot, the organisers went for simple, classic non-fussy bridal gowns to match the laid-back, whimsical theme.

Our Final Thoughts:

This shoot was laid-back and fun to do and we were blown away when we got a sneak peek at the images. It completely captured the magical, whimsical quality of the day.

The beautiful floral arrangements stole the show. Proving that while locally grown, in-season blooms may not be exotic, they are anything but boring!

If you’re planning a romantic and elegant wedding with a touch of whimsy, or you’d like to incorporate a few eco-friendly choices into your wedding planning, we hope this styled shoot will serve as valuable inspiration to get you started.

But do bear in mind that styled shoots are not real. The images look amazing and styled shoots are a wonderful opportunity for talented suppliers to flex their creative muscles and show just what they can do but they’re often more polished and lack the personality and jubilance of a true wedding! So use them as a starting point only.
