Spring weddings at Tower Hill Barns are something you need to experience for yourself. Our grounds are beginning to come into their own, and our expert groundskeeping team are on the case. They’re busy planting, pruning and preparing for the spring/summer wedding season. Enhancing all the ‘one of a kind’ natural photo backdrops that our guests are so looking forward to.
We always say that each season brings its own unique atmosphere to the barns, and we have to say, spring is one of our favourites. With the clocks going forward and the longer days unfolding, you can just feel spring is in the air.
Let’s face it, there’s nothing like a spring wedding. Fresh beginnings, friends together, love, hope, and the sparkle of sunshine. Yes, of course there can be the occasional spring shower too, but that’s all part of what creates the natural beauty of Wales. The luscious, rolling green hills, the fresh crisp air and the blue open skies – perfect ingredients for an unforgettable spring wedding.
We offer two breathtaking ceremony areas, depending on your preference. Many early spring couples choose to tie the knot inside, bathed in the honeyed ambience of our lovingly restored rustic Old Barn, without a care for the intricate workings of the Great British Weather. While the nature lovers amongst you tend to fall in love with our unique and historic outdoor ceremony area – the ‘Old Railway Bridge’. And we can’t say we blame you.
A truly picturesque and romantic backdrop for you wedding album, our ‘Old Railway Bridge’ dates back to the 19th century. Marking the crossing to the Ruabon to Barmouth line it’s our own unique slice of history.
The backdrop to the bridge is expansive breathtaking views across the Dee Valley, framed by the organic beauty of the surrounding Welsh farmland. All in all, it’s a stunning wedding location spring showers and all. The bridge has been newly replanted, with lavender, cosmos and spring daisies, and towards the latter end of spring our perennial wildflower meadow comes to life. While you’re in the meadow, you’ll see our newly finished winding path. We’re quite proud of this feature. It allows couples and their guests to enjoy the wildness of the natural environment, and to capture one-of-a-kind photographs in the spacious, airy setting.
We love to experience the array of colours, textures and springtime scents all this planting produces in the spring. The first purples and yellows are just peeking through. And already, we can see the trees just starting to come back to life – gorgeous blossom emerging, wild grasses sprouting, and the hedgerows teaming with pretty spring blooms. Now picture all that with a champagne glass in your hand, and a sparkling ring on your finger, or better still on the hand of the one you love – bliss!
The spring couple are spoiled for choice when it comes to picking their spring wedding theme. There are plenty of colours to work with. Think fresh white blossoms, bright, sunny daffodils, the rainbow shades of tulips, deeper tones of crocuses in blues and violets, or for the free-spirited, a fresh bohemian scattering of poppies and wild daisies in lush meadow grass. Springtime here in the Welsh hills is truly captivating, and our setting has a particular Celtic ambience for weddings taking place during the spring months.
Food is our love language and naturally our chefs have some great suggestions for fabulous spring banquets, featuring plenty of the delicious seasonal produce available locally at this time of year. How about asparagus as a light starter? Perhaps a serving of locally sources lamb as a main course? Then freshly grown rhubarb for dessert. And of course, it wouldn’t be THB without an expertly mixed cocktail or two!
Speaking of cocktails… as your special day draws in and the cooler evening air takes over, your guests can continue to enjoy the outdoors for a few hours still. We have covered seating, stylish festoon lighting, and a cosy outdoor bar complete with its own mesmerising fire pit. Grab a blanket, gather around, toast marshmallows and light a few sparklers as you share drinks, laughter and great conversation.
Are we talking your language? Seeing is believing and we’d love the opportunity to show you around properly.
