Secluded, scenic & colourful
Outdoor ceremonies at Tower Hill Barns take place under the Old Railway Bridge. Set back amongst the trees, amidst 10-acres of rolling Welsh hills, the Bridge is secluded and intimate (except for the occasional moo if the cows are in the fields). Complete with a stunning wood-clad backing and an oak gazebo for your guests to sit under, it offers an idyllic setting to take advantage of the weather on your wedding day.
You can choose to dress the space or leave it as is; either way, The Bridge offers a colourful scene that easily flows from inside to outside amongst our scenic surroundings. During the summer months the area is full of colour. Wildflower meadows line the aisle that leads from the barn to the ceremony area, roses grow up the banks by the side of the bridge, and the gazebo is fully planted with pots and troughs full of colour and scent.
The Bridge, formally the old railway line between Ruabon and Barmouth, was closed during the 1960s. Now lovingly restored, it offers a unique ceremony space under which you can exchange your vows.
The outdoor ceremony area is licensed for civil ceremonies (weather dependent) from April 1st to September 30th. The gazebo can seat approximately 100 guests comfortably, with 10 benches on each side of the aisle. Additional chairs can be placed on the decking to seat an extra 50. We do, however, recommend our couples keep ceremony guest numbers to around 120 in case inclement weather requires your registrar to relocate you and your guests inside for the ceremony.
As you get ready to make your way down the aisle, we will be on hand to help. Whether you plan to arrive in style in a wedding car, make your way over from the Farm House, or down the stairs from the dressing room, our staff will guide the way and provide shelter. Our team will let you know when it’s time to walk down the aisle, and help with music and timings.
Our outdoor ceremony area has space for a string quartet, harpist, musician with a guitar, or other live ceremony music options. Usually, our couples have live music set up just by the bridge, to the left of where the couples will stand after you’ve made your way down the aisle. Alternatively, we have a Bose sound system that you can connect a device to.
That ‘just married’ feeling
After your ceremony, you will lead your guests down the aisle as a newly married couple and can then move onto drinks (and canapés) in the bar or outside areas. This is also when couples enjoy exploring our beautiful grounds and have some photos taken.
Wedding breakfasts are held in our new oak-beamed dining hall which is a stunning space in its own right but can be decorated to your own tastes. Our in-house catering team will look after you and your guests as you share your first meal as a married couple with your closest friends and family.
