How To Book A Wrexham Registrar
Civil Ceremonies at Tower Hill Barns are facilitated in conjunction with the Wrexham Registrars. Allowing you to legally say ‘I Do’ inside in the romantic candlelit Old Barn year-round or outside beneath the historic Old Railway Bridge from March to October (weather gods permitting).
1. Initial Enquiry:
Once you’ve provisionally reserved your date, get the ball rolling by sending an email to the Wrexham Registrars at Ceremonies@Wrexham.co.uk with the following details:
- Preferred Wedding Date
- Your Venue
- Preferred Ceremony Time (on the hour)
- Full names of both partners. And;
- Most importantly, your contact telephone number
Note: Wrexham open their diary 2 years in advance. Perfect for those of you who are uber-organised and want to enjoy the smug feeling of having snapped up your dream wedding date in good time.
2. Wait (Impatiently) For A Response:
Cue the drumroll! Within 10 working days (or less), the registrars will grace your inbox to confirm availability and request a deposit via an online payment link to secure the date. This confirmation is your golden ticket to seal the deal. Get ready to reach out to your wedding coordinator to finalise your booking and set the wheels in motion (argh, the excitement!).
Tip: When an email from the Wrexham Registrars does finally hit your inbox don’t pull a disappearing act. Duck, roll, dive – just be sure to open it! If payment isn’t made to secure the booking within 24 hours they’ll release the date until you contact them again (and no one needs that kind of suspense in their lives!).
4. Give Notice to Get Married: Legally In Love
In addition to booking a registrar, to be legally married you will also need to ‘give notice’ in the county in which you live. This has to be done via a face-to-face appointment and both parties must present their fabulous selves due to fraud checks.
Notice can be given up to 12 months in advance, and right up to 29 days before the wedding. But unless you’ve snagged one of our coveted late availability dates and you’re planning your wedding in less than 6 months. It’s best practice is to aim for around the 6-month mark to leave yourself a little breathing room, just in case! (But hey, who are we to prevent you from living life on the edge?).
5. Receive Your Wedding Pack: AKA Wedding Homework
Once you’ve given notice in your home county and the Wrexham Registrars have received the memo, they’ll send out the ‘wedding pack.’ It’s the Holy Grail containing all the deets about your ceremony, including those heart-fluttering vows. On the downside, it has to be filled in and returned. Mind, is it even homework if you’ve got freshly poured, just-engaged Prosecco on the go?
6. Final Countdown
As the wedding excitement builds, your allocated THB wedding manager will work with you to get your wedding plans in motion and ensure you don’t forget the nitty-gritty. The registrars request that the final payment is made no later than 4 weeks before the big day. Trust us; by then, you’ll be too swept up in the excitement to feel the sting.
7. The Last Call
Last, but not least – a week or two before your wedding your registrar will give you a call to talk through what will happen upon their arrival and confirm the information they have for you and your partner. Think of it as a dress-rehearsal, but for paperwork! It’s the final check-in before you officially tie the knot (exciting!) and therefore the perfect opportunity to iron out any last-minute questions or tweaks you may have. What is it they say? ‘Speak now, or forever hold your peace!’.
Things To Bear In Mind On The Day:
Outdoor Ceremonies at Tower Hill Barns:
Outdoor ceremonies are a delight here at the barns most of the year, although the weather gods play the deciding role. Your registrar will give the green light, but if the weather gets a tad too wild (due to heavy rain, wind, or if it’s particularly cold), be prepared for a smooth transition indoors.
Don’t Be Fashionably Late: Punctuality, Please!
We’ve done this rodeo a time or two now, and we’re experts at ensuring a smooooth wedding timeline so while it’s rare that we encounter a fashionably late bride or a runaway groom here at the barns. It’s worth noting that registrars are sticklers for time. They’re keen that the ceremony should kick off no later than 15 minutes after the allotted time – a challenge for those of us for whom 15 minutes late is considered early.
So there you have it, our step-by-step guide to securing your registrar and etching an official date in the diary for your epic countryside wedding here at the barns. Of course, we’re always happy to help! So if you’ve any burning questions that we’ve not answered here please do feel free to get in touch. We LOVE to talk all things wedding planning!
