Claire designed the day like the total wedding pro she is and made the stellar choice to go with florals by a superstar combo of Red Door Design + Uplit. Plus a show-stopping cake by White Lace Cakes.
Their wedding is everything we love when you think: luxurious, rustic, elegance. Our pinning fingers are ready because we’re so on board with all of this lush wedding inspo.
Behind the scenes + the ultimate 90s inspired dance fest:
The couple fell in love with the idea of our North Wales barn wedding venue after viewing in 2016, loving the intimate and friendly vibe.
“It was exactly what we were looking for, and didn’t fail to meet and surpass expectations.”
The Bride found her dream dress at Bridal Reloved in Liverpool, a boutique which sells pre-owned wedding dresses. She counts herself lucky to have found a gorgeous Morilee designer grown for half the price! They then opted for a blush pink and lilac colour scheme for the bridesmaid dresses [from Coast and Asos] which worked wonderfully against the ivory in the flowers.
On the topic of flowers, with a powerhouse team-up between Red Door Design and Uplit Event Hire, it was a stunning scene of gorgeous countryside inspired floral displays.
Claire and John were married in Eccleston Church first, before making their way over to us in North Wales for their wedding breakfast.
“We had so many compliments on the food and wine; people were blown away by the flavours and presentation of every dish. We had the parma ham and manchego cheese croquettes for the starter, the duo of welsh lamb for the main and tonka bean panna cotta for dessert.”
After the food, and the speeches, it was time for the 90s inspired pop fun to kick off. Because, as it would happen, with the help of Kristina from Wedding Dance Chester, Claire and John really could kick it cool! Their wedding cover band Soul Revolver kept the tunes happening all afternoon and evening, covering a DJ set too and staying a little later after requests for more!
When you’ve partied hard and it’s time for a nap:
My close family and John and I stayed in farmhouse wedding accommodation for the wedding night. The gorgeous rooms and were absolutely perfect for us. We wondered up at around 12 am and left everyone else to continue partying.
The front door of the house deadlocks when closed, and John and I hadn’t been to the farmhouse prior to the end of the night so we were oblivious to this, and we didn’t have a key. We were locked out and I was too tired to do anything about it, so I slumped on the floor by the door and had a snooze whilst John went to find help. The photo evidence at breakfast the next morning got a few laughs!
“Kristina helped us to choreograph the ultimate 90’s inspired first dance. It was so much fun. Our guests were blown away by the surprise and loved the cheesy pop audio. They were also impressed with the range of moves and tricky lifts!”
The Back Story
It was Valentine’s Day in 2016, and John had suggested going for breakfast by the River Dee in Chester. We walked along the Roman walls to get to the restaurant. John took a little diversion to look over the river, stopped and then handed me a card from his coat pocket. It had a very meaningful message inside and when I looked back he was on one knee with a ring! It was a sunny day and the church bells were ringing in the background–a perfect proposal. I then grabbed a poor man that was passing by to take a photograph!
The couple went on honeymoon to California in September. They flew into San Francisco and then road tripped down the coast to finish in LA before a quick trip to Vegas for their final stop.
