Summer may have come to a close, but autumn brings so much beauty (especially amongst the hills of our idyllic North Wales backdrop). So we loved this trip down memory lane as we look back at Jane & Conor’s stunning autumn wedding. With a Scottish proposal, and set to the sweet, romantic tunes of Love Actually’s ‘Glasgow theme’, Jane & Conor’s autumn wedding is as romantic as they come!
Why Tower Hill Barns
Jane is from Birmingham, with her family living in the Wirral, Conor is from Belfast, while based in London, and they both were looking for a wedding venue that was in an ideal location. Tower Hill Barns was the second venue we saw that day, and it hooked us from the moment we walked around the venue. We had seen several venues, but none had captured the excitement we felt about our wedding at Tower Hill Barns.
It was an ideal and accessible location for the family from Ireland and the Wirral, as well as friends from all over the UK, Europe and America. Plus, the venue matched perfectly with our must-have wedding theme!

The Big Day & The Ceremony
There were some nerves (mostly from the Groom about having to give a speech), but we were both so looking forward to marrying each other. We got married in the beautiful setting of the Old Barn, which was so perfect. I walked down the aisle to the instrumental version of the Glasgow theme from Love Actually, and the large mirror feature meant that everyone, including our guests whom were deaf, could see us sign our wedding vows along with the British Sign Language interpreters for the guests and another interpreter for us when exchanging the vows.
Guests were served delicious autumnal drinks of Kir Royal with champagne combined with blackberry fruit with bubble machine blowing bubbles around the happy couple and guests enjoying the celebrations.
The lovely Tower Hill Barns playlist kept us in the mood as we enjoyed a gorgeous wedding breakfast of canapés, potato and leek soup, Welsh Beef (with all the trimmings), and followed by a seasonal rhubarb cheesecake.
When it came time for the speeches, we followed tradition and had the two best men, and the fathers of both the bride and the groom, give speeches along with the interpreters to voice over and signing to access for everyone.
We surprised everyone with Irish dancers who danced for us. All of our guests were amazed and surprised. And then the Bride and her hen party friends surprised everyone with a fabulous dance on the dance floor. We also had open fire pit to allow guest to enjoy the evening air with marshmallows and lighting sparklers along with the amazing evening lighting background.
Our wedding day was a fantastic way of celebrating the wonderful journey we have made together!

The Honeymoon
We toured North Wales in a VW campervan and stayed in Chateau Rhianfa, and then went away again during Easter for a longer honeymoon in Sri Lanka.
Funny Stories From The Big Day
Oh, the day was perfect.
Even if the groom nearly forgot his wedding flowers! And despite the Best Man never having put a toe on the dance floor at his own wedding, he owned the dance floor on our wedding night!
Top tips for other couples
Make sure you take time out from the wedding planning to have a date night! And speaking of wedding planning, the team at Tower Hill Barns were really so helpful. If have you have any concerns about the wedding and planning, they’re the best!
The Autumn Wedding Suppliers
The bride went with a bright, light and fresh coral theme for the bridesmaid dresses, which gave their autumnal wedding photos a burst of colour. And the mother of the bride put her hand to the decor. She created a gorgeous array of colourful DIY wedding decor to blend perfectly with the rustic, autumn wedding venue.
When it came to wedding stationery, the couple made their own guest seating chart using wooden British Sign Language finger spelling tiles they ordered from Julian of Creative Kelowna in Canada.
